Are You a Woman of Integrity

Psalm 15:2-5 (NKJV) He who walks uprightly, And works righteousness, And speaks the truth in his heart; He who does not backbite with his tongue, Nor does evil to his neighbor, Nor does he take up a reproach against his friend; In whose eyes a vile person is despised, But he honors those who fear the LordHe who swears to his own hurt and does not change; He who does not put out his money at usury, Nor does he take a bribe against the innocent. He who does these things shall never be moved.

Would you consider yourself to be a woman of integrity?Do you have conviction?

*When you read the news, do you have God’s sense of right and wrong – standing firmly upon it?  (It’s not always the popular viewpoint.)
*Do you base your moral compass on what everyone else says is right or wrong?  Or is your moral compass based upon God’s standards?
*Do you tell “white lies” telling yourself it’s only a little lie so it really doesn’t count?
*Do you do the right thing, all the time, even when no one is looking or when you’ll not get any credit?
*Do you ever twist the facts so that it becomes the truth?  This way, you can have an appearance of being honest.
*Do you ever emotionally manipulate people to get what you want?  (intentionally or unintentionally)   Sometimes this is hard to see in ourselves.  But if we really want to be women of integrity, don’t fight that small voice in your heart that may be revealing that you’re a manipulator.
*Do you keep your word or because of the rushed world we live in, forget and fail to be a woman of your word?  Such examples could include:

  • Telling someone you’ll do something, and then fail to carry it out…
  • Telling someone you’ll pray, then forgetting…
  • Telling someone you want to have lunch or coffee with them, never really intending to do it because of your busy schedule.
*Do you retaliate when someone betrays you unjustly?
*Do you gossip about others but become very critical of others who may be gossiping about you?
Jesus says in Luke 16:10, “If you are faithful in the little things, you will be faithful in large ones.  But if you are dishonest in little things, you won’t be honest with greater responsibilities…”

If this is a convicting post, be encouraged.  An honest self-assessment will ultimately bring freedom… Making you a woman of integrity, not only in the eyes of men, but most importantly, in the eyes of the ONE Who ultimately matters – The Lord God Almighty, Himself!

How Revival Can Begin With You

Great Article by Dave Butts from OneCry.Com
There are a lot of good definitions of revival. My favorite is very simple: It’s when God shows up for church.
It’s that very special time in a life of the people of God when they begin to experience the presence of Jesus Christ in a fresh new way.
You might be thinking: Now, isn’t that the way it’s supposed to always be?
That’s probably the case, but the truth of the matter is, most of us can go to church Sunday after Sunday after Sunday and never really experience the presence of Jesus Christ.
The old revivalists years ago used to call it the “manifest presence of God.” It’s when God’s presence is suddenly made manifest in a fresh, new way.H
So if you are going to begin praying for revival, you have to understand what you are praying toward. You’re asking God to show up. You’re asking the Lord to step in, to do something that is out of the ordinary, that’s fresh, that’s new. Something that turns the church back to Jesus Christ.
Understand, that is especially going to happen to you first as an individual. You are not merely praying for revival “somewhere out there,” for a bunch of other people. You start off by saying, “Lord, I need revival. More than anything else, I long to experience Your presence in a fresh, new way in my life.”
So we begin to take the Word of God and make it a part of our lives. We turn to passages like Psalm 85: “Will You not revive us again?”
Perhaps even start by saying, “Lord, will You not revive me again? Will You open my eyes to see You in a fresh, new way that causes me to be filled with Your love, Your grace, Your mercy in a way that changes not only me, but changes those around me?”
Can you imagine what happens when thousands and thousands of us begin praying for God to show up in church?

Does God often show up in your church? What can you do to create an environment where He is welcome and has the freedom to be God among His people? What changes might you need to make to the Sunday schedule, monthly calendar, or annual programming of your church?
“Father, we ask You to come and be a part of our weekly church service. We don’t want to gather together in Your name yet be so inwardly focused that we miss Your manifest presence. Shine the light of Your Word on any practice, program, or process in our church that doesn’t bring You glory or help us in doing Your will Your way. In Jesus’ name, amen.”

Strength for the Storms, Part 3

The bending of a palm tree also demonstrates what our posture should look like in storms.  We should bow down in worship, honoring God for who He is through our storms

The problem when facing storms is we tend to gaze at our circumstances and glance at our God, when we should gaze at our God and glance at our circumstances.  Worship causes us to focus less on the problem and more on our Problem Solver

Like a palm tree that bends to the point where its leaves touch the ground, storms in our lives ought to bring us to our knees in prayer

Even the powerful ruler, King Hezekiah  had enough sense to turn his face to the wall and cry out to God.

Hezekiah 38:1-5  In those days Hezekiah was sick and near death. And Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, went to him and said to him, “Thus says the Lord: ‘Set your house in order, for you shall die and not live.’”
2 Then Hezekiah turned his face toward the wall, and prayed to the Lord, 3 and said, “Remember now, O Lord, I pray, how I have walked before You in truth and with a loyal heart, and have done what is good in Your sight.” And Hezekiah wept bitterly.
4 And the word of the Lord came to Isaiah, saying, 5 “Go and tell Hezekiah, ‘Thus says the Lord, the God of David your father: “I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears;

When his back was against the wall, he didn’t rely on his own power, prestige, or possessions but on God to provide at his most desperate point of need

How to find strength through the storms, continued:

Reaching out and staying committed to our spiritual leaders and allowing them to speak into our lives and asking for prayer

Examining my own heart and life
Sometimes when we go through storms in our lives we must/need to take an inventory and inspection in our own life,  Is there something in my life God wants me to clean up and restore? Is there something He wants me to throw away or is there something He wants me to start over new? Is there a relationship in my life that is toxic to me and causing me to stay in the storm? Surround myself with positive people and being honest with them  Stay away from toxic people Sometimes we may have to “unfollow” people like we do on Facebook

If you’re married, stay in unity with your husband
Husbands, likewise, dwell with them with understanding, giving honor to the wife, as to the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life, that your prayers may not be hindered.  I Peter 3:7

Reaching out to others
Palm trees are able to produce fruit in different seasons and weather conditions.  We must be fruitful even when we face storms.
Sometimes we will be called upon to help others even while we’re going through a storm ourselves.  God sustains and strengthens us in these times and even provides us with His comfort as we comfort others
It’s not always all about us going through our own personal storms but reaching out to others.  It will bring healing to our own lives when we give out to others.
Sometimes storms may not affect us but hit somewhere else.  We need to be the ones to reach out to them and provide a safe place for them to get the help they need.
In 20005 Hurricane Katrina and the flood this past August did not affect us really but it did affect us in a powerful way
I remember during Katrina we opened up our church and we were working 7 days a week and we were becoming weary and we had only a few faithful ones that were serving with us at the time.  But then the Body of Christ rose up in a powerful way and God began to send in more troops We were getting help from people as far away as Canada. We need others to come help minister to other  Ladies your pastor and his wife need you to help serve. Sometimes it’s a simple card, phone call or text that will encourage someone
We need to be sensitive to others going through a storm.  When others are going through the storms we need to get in our boats and go rescue others and bring them to a safe place.
I remember the August flood last year. We went out in our boat to rescue those who were only coming out with large black garbage bags and their animals. Talk about forgetting about your own self    I remember coming home from the first night of helping someone clean out their flooded home and when I opened my door to my house feeling so thankful for a warm shower and dry bed. We had to help them clean out their home and help them see what they wanted to try and save and what needed throwing out  Sometimes we need to help them in the spiritual way also if what to keep in their lives and what to throw out

Some storms are more intense than others, some come with no damage, some with minimal damage, and some cause mass destruction and devastation.  Some storms we just ride out, some storms we just have little clean up, but some storms we have to tear down and just start over.

Sometimes we have to seek a safe place for those storms that will cause major destruction.

Psalm 18:2 The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer;
My God, my strength, in whom I will trust;
My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

Psalm 31:2 Bow down Your ear to me, Deliver me speedily; Be my rock of refuge, A fortress of defense to save me.
God brings us to a place of safety in the storm

In 1965 when Hurricane Betsy hit I was 7 years old.  At the time, we lived in a small house with siding on piers.  My dad didn’t know if our house would weather the hurricane so he packed us up and we went stay and my uncle and aunt's home that was newly built that was brick and on a slab.  My dad did what he felt was best to protect us from the storm. I remember the storm hitting that night and hearing the wind and branches snap but felt secure in knowing my dad had brought us to a safe place.  This is the same way our heavenly father treats us. He is our refuge and fortress during the storm A place we go to for safety, a place of trust and security even when we hear the winds and things uprooted outside, even when he knows we’re afraid He’s there with us

Preparation

Did you know that palm trees actually benefit from storms? As a result of being beaten down by hurricanes, monsoons or other types of storms their trunks grow stronger, they grow taller and more beautiful

We may not like storms but we must learn to embrace them.  One of the primary ways God develops our character and purifies our motives is through pain  Not only that, but consider this fact about palm trees. If the root system and trunk didn’t face storms- it wouldn’t be able to stay standing as is grows taller

Palms trees have amazing characteristics about them-- it’s no wonder the palm branches were used to symbolize victory or prosperity in the Bible

For example, when an army would return home from a battle, palm branches would be waved to celebrate the victory

But a far greater symbolic waving of palm branches occurred when Jesus made His triumphal entry into Jerusalem.  Not fully aware of the symbolic significance of what they were doing, the people were waving palm branches in advance of Jesus’ victory over death, sin and the enemy  when He died on the cross and rose from the grave.

Palm branches ought to remind us that as long as we have Christ we already have the victory.  Paul reminds us in Romans 8:37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.

Where does my strength come from? My strength comes from the Lord
Psalm 18:32 It is God who arms me with strength,
And makes my way perfect.
 Psalm 18:39 For You have armed me with strength for the battle;
You have subdued under me those who rose up against me.

Next time you see a palm tree standing tall and straight know it has probably withstood some storms in its lifetime and is still standing waving its branches in the wind
God is using the storms in our lives to grow us and to be used for His glory.  Storms are not here to stay but for us to get strengthened, get the victory and go and help someone else

My strength comes from the Lord but I have to seek Him for that Strength

Psalm 105:4 Seek the LORD and His strength;
Seek His face evermore!

How To Find Strength Through the Storms Part 2

How to find strength through the storms:

Digging deeper in the Word- which may mean giving up some things that rob our time.  If we go to Facebook before the Word there may be a problem
There are some things we need in our lives to flourish through the storms

Psalm 92:12 The righteous shall flourish like a palm tree,
He shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.

Persistence and Perseverance
Palm trees flourish in extremely hot climate.  Simply stated, we need to learn how to take the heat when life gets difficult  It’s amazing how many torrential rains, wind and storms palm trees can handle. When other trees snap under the pressure, palm trees have deep and wide  root systems to handle various types of inclement weather. How do we weather the storms of life? We must be deeply rooted in God’s Word. When it comes to perseverance God said in Joshua 1:7 Only be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go.
So we find strength through storms when we know the Word and do not stray from its commands
Praying more and listening to worship music

Passion and pliability
In times of drought or dry seasons palm trees are able to tap into deep sources of water that exist deep within the ground. In those dry and difficult seasons, we must thirst for the living water to strengthen us through the storms

Psalm 63:1 O God, You are my God; Early will I seek You; My soul thirsts for You; My flesh longs for You In a dry and thirsty land Where there is no water.

Palm trees also bend under the pressure but they don’t break .   It’s a picture of learning to be flexible in storms. We must learn to trust God through difficulties (notice I said learn -it doesn’t just come easy sometimes)

Finding Strength In the Storms of Life

There are a lot of different storms, there’s snow storms, wind and rainstorms, ice storms, etc.  We all have faced storms in our lives. My storms may be different than your storms but they are still storms.   Some people’s storms are worse than the ones I have experienced,. I may not have experienced all of the storms, like a snow storm, but I have experienced some storms.

Growing up here in south Louisiana all my life,  I have experienced many hurricanes and they’re not fun!  But one thing I noticed about being in a hurricane, if you have other people with you during that time it helps with the endurance of the storm.  So I’m here today to tell you “We’re not called to fight alone!!”

We need to surrender to the will of God and not the will of the enemy.  Pick up your weapons and fight and surround yourself with people who will fight with you.

Someone once said “Sudden storms will come like someone sneaking up behind you with a baseball bat and slamming you in the back of the head.  You will probably fall down-there’s no shame in falling down. The question is will you stay down and lick your wounds or will you get up and fight?

Proverbs 24:16- “For a righteous man may fall seven times and rise again, but the wicked shall fall by calamity (which means cause of misery)

We must enter the battle with our whole armor of God on (Ephesians 6) but always remember to seek God in the midst of the battle

If we seek Him in the spiritual skirmishes and sudden storms we will hear His strategy, receive His power and find a faster path to victory

During spiritual attack and storms our minds and bodies get worn down

Proverbs 24:10 warns us If you faint in the day of adversity, your strength is small.

We must build ourselves up by spending more time with God when storms try to overwhelm us.  We need enduring spirits- strength in our inner man

Isaiah 40:31-But those who wait on the LORD Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary,  They shall walk and not faint.

I was riding my bike one day and the wind was blowing kinda hard.  I had set a goal of how far I wanted to ride. As long as I was riding with the wind it was easy.  But going against the wind I had to push and pedal a little harder and it took me a little longer but I wasn’t giving up.  Satisfaction came when I completed my journey because I pushed through even though it was tough at times

Corrie Ten Boom quote “When a train goes through a tunnel and it gets dark, you don’t throw away the ticket and jump off.  You sit still and trust the engineer”

Welcome to My Blog

Welcome to my first blog! I am excited you have joined me on this journey as we seek God together.

Our heart's  passion and desire  should be to love and serve our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  One way is to spend time with Him by reading & mediating on His Word.  I truly believe we must feast on His Word on a daily basis

Matthew 6:21 says, "Where your treasure is, there will your heart be also."  So where is your treasure? What's in your heart?

So as I begin this journey on this blog, my main focus is to gather insight, knowledge and wisdom from the Word of God in areas of our lives and share it with you.

Joshua 1:8" This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it."

My prayer is that through this blog God would use me to minister to other women who need encouragement and wisdom.
